You may ask, what does a Career Development Coordinator/Career Counselor do?
I am excited to serve as your CDC, Career Development Coordinator at both schools! I call myself a Career Counselor since I have 12 years of experience as a School Counselor, and Career Counseling is my favorite area. I will provide useful information about exploring Careers. As your CDC, I promise to: 1. Demonstrate Leadership, Advocacy, and Collaboration. 2. Help promote a respectful environment for all students. 3. I will facilitate a comprehensive career development program. 4. I will promote learning for all students. 5. I will actively reflect on my practice as your Career Development Coordinator.
Middle School Career Development Coordinators (CDC's) are responsible for coordinating career development services for all students 6-8, and for establishing and maintaining business/education partnerships that support the school system's mission and the individual school's School Improvement Plans. The CDC serves all students by building linkages with the school's staff, business/industry representatives, parents, civic and community organizations.
High School Career Development Coordinators (CDC's) work collaboratively with Administrators, Student Services, and Teachers to ensure the delivery of career development services. CDC's facilitate linkages with Parents, Business/Industry, Postsecondary Institutions, and Community organizations to support student's transition to Postsecondary education and Employment. We also participate in professional development activities at the local, regional, state and national global levels. I happen to be speaking at the NCDA Global Conference this summer about the virtual College & Career Fairs our teams of CDCs created during the pandemic for our students. These can be duplicated in other states and countries and I will share how they can do that, Rosalynn Tennie, Career Development Specialist will join me in facilitating the virtual session as well! www.ncda.org/aws/NCDA/pt/sp/conference_home
Career Development Coordinators remain current with trends, demands, and emerging careers in a rapidly changing workforce by engaging in professional growth opportunities.
